Colleen is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC). Colleen is a fourteen-year Kansas Air National Guard Veteran and worked in Behavioral Health at the Robert J Dole VAMC for over 5 years as a clinician, supervisor and interim chief. She has been providing clinical services in the Wichita area for over 15 years in multiple settings. These settings include a special day school for elementary age students using play therapy and sand tray therapy as modalities as well as alternative settings for expelled students and students placed in the Juvenile Detention Facility. Colleen has experience providing group and individual clinical and substance treatment support to adult clients as well as teens. Working with Veterans is a passion for her related to trauma and addictions. Colleen is invested in helping people experience their best possible life experience through supportive strengths-based therapy that includes EMDR, CBT, and brain-body interventions. This therapeutic focus is a powerful support to foster improved quality of life for those struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, and insecurity. Colleen believes in partnering with you to start where you are comfortable in the process.
Colleen graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2003 and a master’s degree in Social Work in 2004. She is currently in a six-month training group for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) certification through the Maiberger Institute. EMDR is an evidence-based training for treating PTSD and trauma. Colleen also completed a six-month certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia through the VA Medical Center in 2015. Colleen has supervised other clinicians and social workers pursuing clinical licensure. She taught as an adjunct professor at Wichita State University from 2008- 2012 in both the graduate and undergraduate social work programs.
