Making the connection with someone you can trust in this process is the beginning of positive change within. Helen has worked with emerging adults, adults, and families that have been victims of trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders. Helen utilizes a strengths based approach, person centered therapy, and mindfulness techniques. She believes it is important for the individual to recognize strengths within while focusing less on deficits. Rather than guiding the change process Helen allows the client to create a positive sense of self while trusting their ability for making decisions. Helen treats individuals with positive regard, dignity, and respect in a genuine and empathetic manner. The healing process can begin while overcoming fears and stressors that can make coping difficult.Helen is a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). Helen obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a minor in Psychology and a Master of Social Work (2017) from Wichita State University. She received EMDR training thru the EMDR Support Network. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an evidence-based training for treating PTSD and trauma. She is currently obtaining her supervision requirements to acquire her Clinical Social work License (LSCSW).
Helen is currently accepting new clients for telehealth and in will determine a time to resume in office sessions in the future at 1421 E 2nd St N. She is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kancare/Medicaid plans (Sunflower, Ambetter, United -Medicaid only, Aetna Better Health of Kansas, ProviDrs Care, Medica, Meritain, and Aetna Commercial.
